Which type of booth do I need?

There are many things to consider when purchasing an auto spray paint booth. Here are some examples: price, size of your shop, the type of painting and the items you are going to paint, ease of installation, who will install, electrical requirements, code requirements and permits, air flow and booth type just to name a few.

Which type of airflow do I need?

This an important consideration, you can choose cross flow, modified down, full down (pit required), side down, reverse flow, or a combination to the above i.e. modified down reverse, or modified down cross. The one you will need is based on the type of work you are going to do and the cost of the booth, for example a side down will cost more than a modified down draft due to the side down draft booth using two exhaust fans and two exhaust stacks whereas the other has only one. Which is best for you? Get more info on airflow or give us a call and we can explain your options.

Will I need a permit to erect a auto spray paint booth?

In most cases, yes, as there are only a few locations these days that will not need permitting. Contact your city, county, township, or other local governing body to see what permit you will need. A-Frame’s booths meet national OSHA and fire codes; however, the local authority has the last word on your requirements. Please check, as we do not know your area.

Permit Information

Will I need a fire protection system?

You may. Many areas of the country are now requiring fire protection systems in paint enclosures. When you inquire about a permit, you will most likely be told if such a system is required. A fire system can be purchased with your auto spray paint booth from A-Frame (discount can be applied).

Important information on Fire Protection Systems.

Can I erect the booth myself?

Yes you can, in fact the A-Frame spray paint booth is designed so that it requires much less time to erect than most of our competitors. This is a definite plus! Our booth panels are all pre-punched with holes for the bolts and only require standing into procession, inserting bolts in those pre-punched holes. Assembly is fast and easy. This also allows for easier disassembly if you want to move the booth at a later time. Some other manufacturers do not pre-punch their panels and require the use of zip screws when assembling their paint booths. Yes, you are correct. That is a bad thing!

Installation Manual

How long will it take to erect an A-Frame auto spray paint booth?

It will depend on the size and type of booth purchased. The AF 130810 booth can be erected in one day with a minimum of help and equipment. (Three people will be enough and no special equipment is needed to do the basic mechanical installation)

Do you offer installation in my shop?

We do have a team of installers and depending on the location mechanical installation can be arranged and the price is bid on a case-by-case basis, call us for a quote on installation. Note: We also offer consulting packages to help with an install at a daily rate, call for details.

What if I need help?

Our auto spray paint paint booths are shipped with instructions. They can also be accessed online and if you run into a problem, we will be there to help. You can call our staff anytime. They also install these booths and know how to answer your questions. Note: (this comes from experience) when you are working with assembling a metal structure in almost any shop, some field fitting is required due to many variables i.e. unlevel floors, unexpected structural problems in your building, etc. Whatever the problem, we likely have already overcome that situation somewhere. Our staff is experienced, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Are your auto spray paint booths UL listed?

Generally speaking, auto spray paint booths (and other similar paint enclosuresd) are shipped unassembled, and by definition can not be UL listed. All electrical components of our booths are UL listed individually.

UL Explained

Do you have ETL listed packages or booths?

Yes we do have ETL packages and a limited number of ETL listed paint booths to choose from.

Does the price include everything I need to erect the booth?

Our A-Frame booths come with everything except lamps (Common T-8 32 (48”) lamps) that can be purchased at any lighting store, Home Depot, Lowes, or Wal-Mart at a cost of $2 to $3 each. You may also need a few concrete floor anchors to fasten the booth to the floor of your shop. Our booths come with a standard motor control panel (most other companies will charge extra for this.) The auto spray paint booths do not come with exhaust duct components, as almost every installation requirement is different. Give us a call and we can prepare a price quote with exhaust duct to fit your needs.

What about shipping?

All auto spray paint booths are priced FOB from our plant in North Texas. Where the booth is to be shipped and the size of booth you purchase determine the shipping cost.
